Slowing Down

It’s time to slow down…

My family and I recently came back from vacation in Japan (family pic below). As I reminisce about our time in Japan, the one thing that keeps coming up for me is the reminder to “slow down.”

As we traveled to a new country, we tended to maximize our time to see everything because who knows when we’ll return. However, that led to tiredness, irritability, and difficulty savoring and enjoying the moment. I had to work hard to bring myself to the present by pausing to experience what was happening.

This experience got me thinking a lot about “slowing down” in all aspects and roles I have in my life. Going fast for me leads to rash decisions, confusion, undue stress, and burnout. My tendency to “go fast” is due to the conditioned behavior to “keep up with the Joneses,” which for me in this season of life is related to being an entrepreneur and comparing myself to other entrepreneurs.

I’ve also noticed that in this current society, it’s easy to get unconsciously swept into the wave of being more efficient, productive, and keeping up with the latest trends and shiny new technologies. What does this create? A tendency to act fast from scarcity and FOMO versus slowing down to consciously operate from a place of integrity and abundance.

I fully recognize that might have hit a “nerve” for some of you, and it did for me because I also am guilty of acting fast from a place of scarcity and FOMO versus consciously slowing down to act from a place of integrity and abundance.

All to say: “You’re in good company with me” 😉😘

Here’s the life coaching question that I’ve been asking myself, and I’m also inviting you to ponder for yourself as well, is:

In what areas of your life can you “slow down”?

Or here’s the snappy snarky version of the same question just cuz it’s fun to write, and sometimes I say this to myself for a little chuckle 🤣🤭-> In what areas of your life can you “slow the F*** down”? 🤯

Here are the areas of my life where I’ll intentionally “slow down”:

  • My business

    • Do less (i.e., cut out the stuff that is “busy work” or create an automated system to do it for me)

  • Home Life

    • Schedule in downtime (i.e., intentionally create blank spaces on the calendar)

If you’re a working mom looking to figure out which areas in your life you want to “slow down,” then I invite you to Click the link below for a 30-minute coaching conversation with me. I have 2 spots open for individual coaching.

I'll share what I offer if you find the coaching conversation helpful and want to move forward. If you find the coaching conversation useful but aren’t ready for coaching, that’s okay too.
